Daisy Eula Lockett

Daisy Eula Lockett
Headlight-Herald, Jan. 9, 2008

Daisy Eula Patrick Wilcox Lockett died at the age of 93 due to complications of pneumonia.

Eula was born Aug. 1, 1914, in Strout, Ill., to Daisy McChesney and Ross Arvil Patrick. In June 1935, she married Donald Clinton Wilcox in Richfield, Minn. Five children were born over the years as Clint and Eula ran their own newspaper business. Clint's health eventually required moving to a warmer, drier climate, so the family relocated to Arizonia, finally settling in Yuma.

Clint died in 1954, and Eula worked for the American Red Cross and then for the Yuma Daily Sun newspaper. She wrote stories for the local radio station, joined a theatrical group and loved sewing clothes for her family.

In 1957, Eula married USAF Master Sgt. W S Lockett. The family spent time in New York and Okinawa, Japan. When Master Sgt. Lockett retired, they purchased a home up the Trask River, where Eula lived until circumstances required her to move into town. She worked almost 10 years for Community Action, a job she really loved. Her family was always proud of her accomplishments, her kindness and her excellent cooking.

Eula was preceded in death by her two husbands and a grandson, Robert Crum. She is survived by her five children: Don Wilcox and wife LuDean, Diane Milligan, Gwen Roemisch-Walker and Gwen's daughter Daisy, Jeffrey Wilcox and Sue Beaudin; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

A celebration of life will be later this year at a family reunion, where Eula's ashes will be placed with loved ones who passed before her.

Eula was well loved by everyone, and she showed the same love to those around her, always compassionate and patient.

Memorial contributions may be made to CARE at 2211 11th St., Tillamook, OR 97141.

Arrangements are in care of Waud's Funeral Home.
